Why Join WRC?

More Than Just a Rugby Club

Since 1966 we've been building community on the Northern Beaches β€” one family at a time.

Family First

Wakehurst is a club built by families, for families. From Minis through to senior players, the whole family is welcome every weekend.

Pathways for Every Player

Learn the fundamentals in Minis, develop skills through the junior grades, and compete at a high level in seniors. We have a pathway for everyone.

Strong Community

Canteen, BBQ, bar, and a friendly club environment. Our end-of-season dinner, presentation night, and volunteers make this more than a game.

Beautiful Ground

Wakehurst Rugby Park at Belrose β€” a purpose-built facility the community built with its own hands. Great fields, quality floodlights, modern facilities.

Expert Coaching

All coaches hold current Smart Rugby accreditation. Junior coaches are supported by the club and Rugby Australia with training and resources.

Touch Rugby Too

Touch 7s runs Friday evenings in multi-week waves. Perfect intro to the club or a standalone social activity for kids and adults.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to be graded before playing?
Juniors (U10+) are graded based on ability and age. Minis (U6–U9) play in age groups. Seniors and Touch are open to all β€” no grading required.
What gear do I need?
Minis and Juniors need boots (moulded studs), a mouthguard, and shorts. We supply jerseys and socks. For Seniors, you'll need shorts and boots β€” jerseys provided. Touch players need only shorts and runners.
When does the season start?
The main season runs April–August. Minis play Sunday mornings from April. Juniors Friday nights and Sunday mornings from late April. Seniors Saturday afternoons from April. Touch runs in waves across the year.
Can I join mid-season?
Yes β€” especially for Minis, Touch, and Seniors. For Juniors, late-season entry is possible but graded teams fill up. Contact us early.
How do I register my child for multiple grades (e.g. U12 and Touch)?
Each program requires its own registration through Rugby Xplorer. Contact the registrar if you're unsure β€” we'll help you through it.
What is the Working With Children (WWC) requirement for coaches and managers?
All coaches, managers, and volunteers working with players under 18 must hold a current NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC). Club contacts can help you apply.
